Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was born 1858 in New York City. His family was very wealthy. His first wife Alice and his mom died in 1884 on the same day. He married his second wife Edith in 1886. He had six kids. Theodore Roosevelt became the 26th president of the US in 1901 after President William McKinley was assassinated. He was only 42 years old which made him the youngest president. One of the things he is most known for is in the field of conservation. He set aside 5 national parks and 150 national forest. He also thought there was a need for a shortcut between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans so he made the decision to build the Panama Canal. He was the first American to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He served as president until 1909. The teddy bear is named after him because one time when he was hunting and they had not seen any bears, a guide found an injured bear and tied it to a tree for the President to shoo but he refused to shoot it. A political cartoonist made a cartoon for the paper. A candy store owner saw it and started calling his toy bears Teddy's bears. President Roosevelt died in 1919.
John F. Kennedy
President Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. After he graduated college, he went to the Navy. His ship once got hit and he and ten other sailors had to spend 3 days afloat. He wanted to pursue a political career so he did. He started from eleventh congressional district of Massachusetts and worked his way up to President. Soon after he won the eleventh congressional district of Massachusetts, he married Jacqueline Bouvier. They had two kids Caroline and John Jr. And then he got a disease called Addison disease and that would weaken his immune system. As the election day comes, Kennedy's winning chance was very thin but, he won and got the nomination. Then he won again for president. As president he proposed to raise the minimum wage to $1.25/hour and it worked. Kennedy was going on his daily routine raising money for his campaign for his reelection. While passing through Dealey Plaza in a parade in Dallas, he was shot in the throat and head and they took him to the nearest hospital. Then he soon died. The police finally caught man by the name of Lee Oswald and that was the person that did the crime. Although he may have died, he is still a very famous president.

All About Russia
Russia is the world's LARGEST country, with a population of 142,470,272, and guess who gets to rule it? Vladimir Putin. I've never met him in person so I don't feel very comfortable talking about him and his personal things. But, enough about Vladimir.
The real name of Russia is the Russian Federation, but, nobody really wants to say "I'm going to visit the Russian Federation!"
Exactly.
The capital of Russia is Moscow. The people of Moscow and everybody else that lives in Russia speaks Russian. Their money is called Ruble. The religions that remain inside of Russia are, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism. The people of Russia speak Russian, obviously.
One fun fact is: The Russian Federation borders three seperate oceans.
Here are the websites I used: russiapedia.rt.com/basic-facts-about-russia/, kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/countries/russia/#russia-st-basils.jpg, and the Barefoot Atlas, you can find in the Social Studies folder on Mrs. Bronn's iPads, that she provides us with.

All About Iceland
Iceland, a beautiful country off the southwestern coast of Greenland, also a country about the size of Kentucky, USA. It was formed by a series of volcanic eruptions. Speaking of volcanoes, the country contains of thirty-five active volcanoes. Crazy, huh?
Iceland is known to be one of the most distinct and beautiful landscapes in the world. With 332,000 people to enjoy it! The people of Iceland speak Icelandic and English as their official languages. The religion there is mainly Christain. The beautiful country has a nickname of "Land of Fire and Ice".
Let's get to know some of the (main) animals that roam the Land of Fire and Ice. Puffins, sheep, and Icelandic horses are those animals. If you want to look up some pictures of any of these animals. Just type their names up in the google search bar!
Enough about landscapes, and animals. Want to learn some fun facts? Here they are: It would be a 5.5 hour flight from NY/ USA to Iceland. That's not very long in my opinion! Another fact is, the education there is FREE of charge. That would be amazing to not pay for any education! The country also contains geysers. They're pretty cool.
I hope you enjoyed learning about Iceland. Here are the links that I used. www.kids-world-travel-guide.com, icelandreview.com, and the app "Barefoot Atlas", you can find that on Mrs. Bronn's Social Studies folder, on the iPads she provides us. :

Space Race
The Space Race was part of the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union. Everyone thought space exploration was the next big thing. So the US and the Soviet Union were racing to the moon. And so it started, the Soviet Union were the first to send a satellite to orbit the Earth. But the US was not far behind sending there own satellite. The Soviet Union was still in the lead by sending there own into space to orbit the Earth one time. The US was catching up by sending John Glenn into orbit for just one rotation. The last stretch was coming up, who could land on the moon first. Apollo 11 was the first moon landing attempt and the US was successful. The Soviet Union had four fail attempt to the moon, but the US beat them there. And thats how the US won the race to the moon."One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," was Neil Armstrong's famous quote while he was on the moon.

Spanish Armada
The Spanish Armada was a war between England and Spain. Armada means fleet of warships and that’s literally what it was. The Spanish had just created a colony in newly discovered North America and had found gold in it and Spain was thriving. That was the cause of the war. England of course wasn't going to miss an opportunity to make money and spread their religion, so they decided to make a colony of their own. The problem was that whenever the Spanish created their colony, they made it clear to other European countries that nobody else could settle on it.
Even so, several countries decided that Spain shouldn't be in charge of them. So in 1588, the Spanish Armada began. The Spanish had a huge Navy with enormous ships. The English had small ships and an even smaller Navy. Yet because of the huge ships the Spanish had, they went really slow. As I said earlier the English had very small ships but what they had moved swiftly across the water. To everyone’s surprise the English had victory in the Spanish Armada.

Abraham Lincoln's Assassination
In April of 1865 President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford’s Theater. In most cases the assassin is unknown, but in this case newspapers and people talked about him. The guilty person was John Wilkes Booth.
John Wilkes Booth was the son of a very theatrical father and mother. He had unhappily acted for a few years before getting involved in politics. What you may be wondering is why would someone with such a good atmosphere want to do something like that? Well, as I mentioned, he got involved with politics and his political viewpoints didn’t exactly match up with President Lincoln’s.
Something that a lot of people don’t know is that Booth wasn’t alone in this. Some of the other members included, David Herold, George Azterodt, and Lewis Powell. These “Conspirators” were to take down the government because they were from the south and thought that all people should have slaves. If they had succeed, everybody in the United States might still have a slave.
